Monroe officials report seven new positive COVID-19 cases

MONROE – Monroe officials reported seven new positive COVID-19 cases on April 16, bringing the total number of cases to 280, according to the Monroe Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM).

The age range of the cases are from 43 to 97.

The cases included four females – a 43 year old, a 62 year old, a 92 year old and a 97 year old and three males – a 57 year old, a 61 year old and an 89 year old.

Monroe Township OEM has issued over 2,000 pieces of personal protective masks to the Monroe Stop and Shop, 1600 Perrineville Road. Patrons can request a face covering at the Courtesy Desk if needed. Workers and visitors in retail establishments are required through Gov. Phil Murphy’s executive order to wear cloth face coverings while on the premises of any retail establishment.

The COVID-19 drive-thru testing site at MyInstaDoc, 298 Applegarth Road, will serve pre-registered patients from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and drive-up patients from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Testing resumes on April 21. As of April 15, MyInstaDoc has tested 1,417 patients and 36.4% of the tests have come back positive.
