News Transcript Business Briefs, Aug. 5

Zachary Zawatski of Freehold Township High School, Ravi Arya of Northern Burlington Regional High School, Madison Cortes of Steinert High School, Charles Vizthum of North Brunswick High School and Anthony Surdo of New Egypt High School have been named the 2020 recipients of the ERA Central Realty Group EDGE Scholarship.

Through their applications, these young people have shown they embody the same ideals for which the company’s Realtor professionals are known: ethics, dedication, genuineness and an entrepreneurial spirit.

The scholarship program, which began in 2005, is funded by the Realtor Associates of ERA Central Realty Group and matched by the company. The program was founded based on giving back to the community and honoring the families that have supported ERA Central for more than three decades. Since its inception, the EDGE Scholarship has awarded $65,000 in scholarships.

At its June meeting, the Jersey Shore Association of Human Resources (JSAHR), Neptune, awarded three Ann C. Edwards educational scholarships, totaling $2,500. A $1,000 scholarship was presented to Joseph LaPorta, a senior at Colts Neck High School.

Joseph distinguished himself in academics, athletics and community service. He served as a cadet leader in the high school’s Navy JROTC program. He achieved certification from the New Jersey State Police Youth Trooper Week and the Monmouth County Youth Sheriff Week. Joseph plans to attend Stockton University, majoring in criminal justice and Homeland Security.

JSAHR is a professional business organization that supports members of the human resources profession in Monmouth and Ocean counties.
