Former mayor supports Maria Wise for Edison Board of Education

Maria Wise is a highly qualified resident of our municipality who is running for a seat on the Edison Board of Education. Maria began her education as a first grader at John Marshall Elementary School and continued until graduation from Edison High School. Two of her children have completed their tenure in our school system and one is currently a student at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.

Maria’s roots run deep in our township. Over the years she has been an active member of the community by volunteering as a religion instructor at St. Matthew the Apostle Church, a cheering coach for the Edison Jets, a member of Edison Overcrowding Task Force, a petitioner opposing Suez Water in the attempted privatization of Edison’s water system, a two-term committee woman in District 31, and more importantly, Maria has served as an advocate for those subjected to domestic violence by speaking at and for R.A.W. (Respecting All Women).

Maria’s guiding principles, Honesty, Integrity and Transparency, are words she lives by and are deeply ingrained in her. As a member of the Edison School Board, Maria brings a mastery of financial acumen with the understanding of the many needs of our students. As the mother of a child with special needs, she brings the ability to understand the many facets of blending coping skills and integrating those skills with everyday life.

Maria Wise has “walked in our shoes.” She is a tireless advocate for our children while understanding the very real need for financial responsibility. Maria is what Edison needs.

“Nothing Less than Excellence” in education is the hallmark of Edison Township and Maria Wise will continue to fulfill that mission. For these many reasons I support the candidacy of Maria Wise to be seated as a member of the Edison Township School Board.
