The Sierra Club NJ-Central Group will present a lecture, “Invasive Species and the Pandemic: Thinking of Nature as a Body,” at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 11.
Stephen Hiltner will bring his long-term experience as a naturalist whose field work and writings on invasive species stretch across 30 years and three states. Trained in botany and water quality, he founded and led the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association in Durham, North Carolina, and the Friends of Herrontown Woods in Princeton.
At Herrontown Woods volunteers have fought invasive species to restore the Veblen House grounds and create a Botanical Art Garden containing 130 native plants.
At the Princeton Battlefield, Hiltner has led a battle against porcelain berry and mile a minute.
