MILLTOWN – Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society is a grant recipient of A Community Thrives, a grant-making and crowd-funding program from the USA Today Network and a part of the Gannett Foundation.
Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society will receive a $6,000 local operating grant through A Community Thrives, which supports non-profit organizations with projects focused on community building and has helped to contribute more than $12 million since 2017, according to a statement provided by the rescue society.
“We are proud of the work Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society has done to enhance their local community. At Gannett, we take pride in supporting the organizations that make a positive impact in their communities. Through A Community Thrives, we lend financial support to that purpose as well as rally the whole community to champion a good and meaningful cause,” Gannett CEO and Chairman Mike Reed said in a prepared statement.
For 10 years, Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society, with the help of their supporters, has cleared the shelters and saved animals.
“We’re thrilled to receive this grant, which will directly go toward funding our new Pawsitive Impact project,” Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society Executive Director Krystal Hasard said in the statement. “We’ll be able to expand the program by purchasing equipment, educational materials, and cover the increase in spay and neuter costs that come with Trap-Neuter-Return. Our volunteer team has already been gearing up and is ready to get out there and change lives.”
