Jo E. Kendall, 82, a long time resident of West Windsor, NJ, passed away on Thursday December 10, 2020 in Plainsboro, NJ.
Jo was born in Detroit, MI, on March 11, 1938, daughter of the late George Elbert and Clara Mae Sewell. She is survived by her two children, Denise and Kenneth, along with six grandchildren; Samantha, Heather, Alexander, Holly, Ian, and Shannon.
Jo graduated from Florida State University in 1960, where she met her late husband, John David Kendall, whom she married on June 4, 1960. After living in Nashville, TN for several years, they moved to West Windsor, NJ in 1970. Although this would be their home for the remainder of their lives, they were drawn to the peacefulness of Cape May, NJ where they routinely spent time together with family.
While Jo was proudly a Librarian in the Mercer County Library System for many years, there was no mistaking her true passion and gift to others was with the arts. From her time working as a Graphic Artist with Mademoiselle Magazine in the late 1950’s, to studying and working with all forms of visual art, photography, stonework, glasswork, and sculpture, there was never a moment that her life was not expressed through art. She graciously donated her time and support to preserve artistic interests as well as nature, where she was an accomplished and proud gardener, as well as avid admirer of butterflies.
There will be no services held at this time, per Jo’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jo E. Kendall to the D&R Greenway Land Trust, One Preservation Place, Princeton, NJ 08540. Arrangements are under the direction of The Mather Hodge Funeral Home.
