Millstone Township school board members step down

MILLSTONE – Two members of the Millstone Township K-8 School District Board of Education who joined the panel in January have resigned from their positions.

On Dec. 14, Angela Munoz was sworn in as an appointed member of the board. She succeeds Mary Waskovich, who left the board in October.

At the same meeting, it was announced that board member Shannon Pulaski would be leaving the board.

Pulaski and Waskovich were elected to the board in November 2019 as write-in candidates. In January, they began serving three-year terms that were scheduled to run through 2022.

During the October meeting, Superintendent of Schools Christopher Huss recognized Waskovich’s service while the school district was dealing with the impact of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

“I would like to thank Mrs. Waskovich for her service on the board and to this community,” Huss said. “While it was a short time, Mrs. Waskovich worked diligently over the past 10 months, during one of the most difficult times education has seen in a long time, if not ever, to consistently and continuously advocate for children. We wish her well in the future with much appreciation for her commitment. Thank you, Mary.”

Huss recognized Pulaski for her service to the board during the Dec. 14 meeting.

“Although short-lived, it was a pleasure working alongside you, especially on the policy committee,” Huss said to Pulaski. “As a board member, you brought great perspective, a wealth of knowledge and insight, and you will be missed.”

“I wish the district all the best,” Pulaski said. “We will turn the page on 2020 and head into a brighter 2021.”

Board members are scheduled to interview candidates for the seat that will be open with Pulaski’s departure and appoint a new board member within 60 days.
