As food insecurity continues to hit New Jersey hard due to the COVID-19 pandemic, supplies are running low at MCFOODS (Middlesex County Food Organization and Outreach Distribution Services) and local food pantries.
To continue to aid families in need, MCFOODS is partnering with Monroe Township to host a Springtime Food Drive on April 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Monroe Township Park and Ride, 337 Applegarth Road, to help stock the shelves.
All donated items should be either canned or packaged foods only. Glass items cannot be accepted.
Items that pantries are especially in need of include: rice, tuna fish, peanut butter, vegetables, canned meats, beans, soups, and pasta, as well as personal products, baby items such as diapers, and paper towels.
As always, monetary donations can also be made by sending a check payable to Feeding Middlesex County to P.O. Box 781, Edison, 08818.
