Pennington School junior Daisy Hutnik was accepted into the New Jersey Scholars Program (NJSP), a highly selective summer program that brings together rising high school seniors for a five-week interdisciplinary learning experience.
NJSP selects 39 of the most motivated and high-achieving students in New Jersey to gather at the Lawrenceville School to learn from college professors.
The theme of this year’s program is “Mind and Body: The Future of Being Human,” and Hutnik is eager to explore these themes in NJSP’s discussion-based, experiential environment.
“I hope I can walk away from this program having gained more confidence to make the choices which inform my own future,” Daisy said in a statement provided by the Pennington School.
The Hopewell resident sees the program as a great opportunity to be pushed out of her comfort zone.
“I believe that there’s no better way to do that than to surround yourself with new viewpoints and positions which you hadn’t previously considered,” she said in the statement. “With any luck, my beliefs will be broken down and changed countless times over the course of the program.”
