Raritan Bay Medical Center Foundation raised nearly $150,000 for the Emergency Department expansion at its Old Bridge hospital.
The fundraising golf outing took place at Manasquan River Golf Club in Brielle on May 3 in support of the expansion project taking place at Hackensack Meridian Raritan Bay Medical Center on Route 18 in Old Bridge.
Nearly 100 golfers participated in the event, which followed all CDC, state and local safety guidelines, according to information provided by Hackensack Meridian Health.
“We could not have asked for a more perfect day, with a more genuine and dedicated group of golfers,” Melissa Magyar, executive director, Raritan Bay Medical Center Foundation, said in the statement. “We recognize that many people are still being impacted by COVID-19, but for this one, glorious day, when we could all safely gather together in support of an immensely important fundraising initiative, it felt wonderful. I am so grateful to everyone who supported the golf outing and who answered our call to help ensure that we are able to provide Old Bridge and the surrounding communities with the best possible emergency care services.”
Construction of the new Emergency Department at Raritan Bay, part of a $39 million investment, began in 2019.
In April, the medical center opened phase one of the project: a new concourse, café and front patient/visitor parking lot, all part of the transformation.
The new Emergency Department is slated to open in February 2022; however, the medical center remains open to the public for all emergent and outpatient needs throughout construction.
