Spotswood council adopts $1.4M bond ordinance funding various upgrades

SPOTSWOOD–The Borough Council adopted a $1.4 million bond ordinance providing funding for various capital improvements ranging from road repairs to purchasing a new department vehicle.

The improvements include:

  • The acquisition of a sanitary truck for the Department of Public Works;
  • Improvements to various roads, including but not limited to, Hudson
    Avenue, Vliet Street, Madison Avenue, Manhattan Avenue, Maiden Lane and George Street;
  • The acquisition of various fire department equipment; and
  • Improvements to the borough’s tennis courts.

The council approved and adopted a $1,402,000 bond ordinance which will partially fund $1,951,500 in total capital improvements on May 3 during the council via video conference and in person at the municipal building.

The borough is also expected to receive $475,575 in grant funding from the state’s Department of Transportation for the road improvements, according to the council.

The $73,925 down payment is available in the Capital Improvement Fund of one or more previously adopted budgets, according to the council.
