The inaugural Milltown Multicultural Festival taking place on May 15 at Gloria Bradford Borough Park is being run by community group The Milltown I.D.E.A. that was started less than a year ago last May.
The Milltown I.D.E.A. is a grassroots coalition committed to fostering Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, and Accountability (IDEA) through education, increased representation, and local projects.
Events such as this upcoming festival are being hosted in order to bring diverse people together where they can learn about one another’s history, arts, and traditions.
The Multicultural Festival is for all audiences of all ages in Milltown, surrounding towns and across New Jersey.
There will be live music and dance performances; cultural book readings for adults and children; take-away arts & crafts kits for kids; a community book swap (bring a book/ take a book); discussion groups on historical and modern Asian American Pacific Islander issues that adults, teens,and kids could participate in and learn from; chalk art activities for artists; an Arts Gallery displaying visual arts from locals in the community; local food vendors, and more.
The event takes place from noon to 5 p.m. May 15. Rain date is May 22.
