Christopher E. Gribbin, MD, a board-certified interventional radiologist, has joined the Board of Governors of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System after he was recently elected president of the Saint Peter’s University Hospital Medical and Dental Staff for the 2021-23 term.
“I’ve long been interested in organized medicine and so it is an honor to be on the Saint Peter’s Healthcare System Board of Governors, helping to make critical decisions that benefit the organization overall, but more importantly, our patients,” Gribbin said in a prepared statement. “I am proud to represent the many physicians here at Saint Peter’s, serving as a board member for an organization that values the voice of the physician.”
In his role as Medical and Dental Staff president, Gribbin will lead physician efforts to ensure best practices for clinical care, helping to maintain Saint Peter’s high level of quality care, and bringing forth any recommendations or concerns voiced by physicians.
Saint Peter’s signed a Definitive Agreement with RWJBarnabas Health (RWJBH) in September 2020, outlining their intention to integrate the two healthcare systems, according to the statement.
“I am pleased to welcome Dr. Gribbin to the Saint Peter’s Healthcare System Board of Governors,” Leslie D. Hirsch, president and CEO of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, said in the statement. “I am very confident that he will be an exemplary representative of all the physicians at Saint Peter’s and I look forward to working with him on the critical issues of importance to both the healthcare system and the medical staff.”
Gribbin is an interventional radiologist practicing at University Radiology Group with locations throughout New Jersey, and an attending physician at Saint Peter’s and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, both in New Brunswick.
He is currently the section chief of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Saint Peter’s and a clinical associate professor of Radiology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
After earning his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, Gribbin worked as an intern in internal medicine at the Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then completed his internship in pathology and a residency in diagnostic radiology at New York University (NYU) Medical Center.
Gribbin also completed his fellowships in body CT, ultrasound and MRI imaging, and vascular and interventional radiology at NYU Medical Center.
