Hillsborough Township BOE appoints high school principal, math supervisor

The Hillsborough Township Board of Education (BOE) unanimously appointed Michele Fisher as the new principal of Hillsborough High School (HHS).

Effective July 1, Fisher takes the helm of HHS to lead the nearly 270 staff members and more than 2,300 students, according to the vote during the June 28 BOE meeting.

Fisher, an HHS alumni, previously served the Hillsborough Township Public Schools as principal of Woods Road School, according to information provided by the district.

Prior to her tenure in Hillsborough, she served as principal for the Green Brook Board of Education and as principal for the Kinnelon Board of Education.

Prior to her serving as principal, Fisher was employed as a teacher in the Flemington-Raritan School District.

Fisher received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from The College of New Jersey and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University.

“As an alumni of HHS, I fully appreciate the importance and impact of a strong secondary education such as the one I received as a student at HHS. One’s high school years lay the foundation for students’ future goals and aspirations. The four years I spent at HHS directly impacted my career path ensuring I had the experiences and knowledge necessary to pursue my goals and dreams. I am honored to be principal and I am looking forward to working with the staff, students, and members of the community to continue Hillsborough High School’s tradition of excellence,” Fisher said in the statement.

“Mrs. Fisher has proven to be a dynamic leader who is well prepared to lead HHS,” Dr. Lisa M. Antunes, superintendent of Hillsborough Schools, said in the statement. “Her ability to bring together stakeholders to solve problems and remove barriers will serve her well for a successful transition.”

At the same meeting, the BOE appointed Kyle Dattola as the K-12 math supervisor effective Aug. 16.

Dattola joins the district after serving the Summit Public Schools as a high school math teacher and coach.

Prior to his time in Summit, Dattola worked in Montgomery, Cherry Hill, and in Royersford, Pennsylvania, according to the statement.

Dattola, a resident of Flagtown, holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics Education from The Pennsylvania State University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Ramapo College.

“As a passionate educational leader and content expert in mathematics, it is my honor and privilege to serve the Hillsborough Schools. I look forward to celebrating the many successes of this outstanding District and to continuing to move the bar further in offering cutting edge instruction in the area of mathematics,” Dattola said in the statement.

Dr. Kim Feltre, assistant superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, said in the statement, “We are thrilled to have Mr. Dattola join the supervisory team. Mr. Dattola holds a firm understanding of mathematics curriculum and pedagogy that will be impactful for the teaching and learning of mathematics throughout the district.”
