After being cancelled in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, Olde Freehold Day will return in 2021 to bring community members and guests together for a day of entertainment, activities, food and fun.
The 2021 edition of Olde Freehold Day will be held on Aug. 14 from noon to 5 p.m. at Lake Topanemus Park, Pond Road, Freehold Township.
Although the 71-acre park is in Freehold Township, Lake Topanemus is owned by Freehold Borough.
Admission to Olde Freehold Day is free and open to the public.
Guests may take a free shuttle bus to Lake Topanemus Park from the Monmouth County Court House, Court Street, Freehold Borough.
Attendees who choose to park at the lake’s back entrance on Robertsville Road, Freehold Township, will be able to take a hayride to the festivities in the park. A $2 donation is suggested for guests who park on Robertsville Road.
According to event organizers, Olde Freehold Day 2021 will feature paddle boats and canoes available to rent for rides on the lake. There will be food trucks and a beer garden on-site.
Olde Freehold Day will have a free Kids Zone that includes a giant inflatable slide, a tree house slide, a hula hoop contest conducted by the Freehold Borough Recreation Commission, a petting zoo, a bird house building activity sponsored by Home Depot, a natural mobile creation, an inflatable obstacle course, a soccer skill course, games and pony rides.
Attendees will be able to win prizes at various games, including cornhole. The Monmouth County Park System will have a van with animals native to Lake Topanemus Park on display.
Guests will enjoy live music all day. The schedule is as follows: Sawmill Run OTSB will perform from noon to 12:45 p.m.; Half Brothers will perform from 1-1:45 p.m.; ProGrasstination will perform from 2-2:45 p.m.; and the Eddie Testa Band will perform from 3:30-5 p.m.
