Muslim American Law Enforcement Association receives award for charity work

Asbury Park Police Lt. Kamil Warraich, founding president of Muslim American Law Enforcement Association (MALEA), accepted the Law Enforcement Association of the Year Award presented by Violence Intervention Prevention Specialist retired Police Capt. Donna Roman Hernandez on Aug. 22.

MALEA is an all-inclusive, interfaith nonprofit law enforcement charity, and was founded to highlight not only the contributions of Muslim law enforcement officers but all law enforcement professionals in the state.
Since its commencement last summer, MALEA has participated in countless charity events serving the less fortunate through the pandemic, worked on several legislative bills and training curriculum for law enforcement, partnered with the Civil Service Commission and law enforcement agencies for recruitment events, held educational forums bringing law enforcement officials and the Muslim community together to learn about each other and to dispel misconceptions on both sides.
MALEA is committed to the welfare and growth of its members and the mission to highlight the contributions of law enforcement officers throughout New Jersey.
