The following updates are related to Tropical Storm Ida and its after-effects in Central Jersey.
East Brunswick: Church Lane between Dunhams Corner Road and Fresh Ponds Road will have road work today, Friday, Sept. 3, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Plan alternate route. Detours may be in place.
Helmetta: Recycling pickup will be Saturday, Sept. 11.
Lawrence Township: Roads closed as of 4:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3: Brunswick Pike northbound; the Trenton Freeway section from the Strawberry Street exit to the I-295 Interchange. Business Brunswick Pike from Darrah Lane to the I-295 Interchange (road surface damage); Bakers Basin Road closed from Brunswick Pike to Lawrence Station/Youngs Road (still flooded); Whitehead Road at the Trenton Freeway Interchange to Sweet Briar (debris in roadway); Carnegie Road off Brunswick Pike (flooding); Carter Road between Van Kirk Road and Carson Road (wire across roadway); Lawrence Road north of Province Line into Princeton (Princeton Police request road remain closed); Princeton Pike north of Province Line Road into Princeton (local traffic only); Brunswick Pike southbound open from the West Windsor border to the Trenton border.
North Brunswick: A special bulk garbage pickup will be done on Saturday, Sept. 4, in order to assist residents who may have damaged items to dispose of due to water accumulating in basements. Items must be brought out to the curb today, Friday, Sept. 3.
Residents may also dispose of any water damaged items that fit in the garbage cart in the weekly collection. It is critically important that you place only your storm-damaged refuse/debris materials out for this collection.
However, all disposal regulations with regard to hazardous waste apply.
If your damaged items are not collected, follow proper procedures and call DPW for an appointment 732-297-1134.
Princeton: Route 206 at the Stoneybrook bridge, River Road and South Harrison are now open.
Sayreville/South River: The Veterans Memorial Bridge (County Route 535) between South River and Sayreville has been fully reopened to traffic.
As of this time, the Causeway area of South River continues to experience flooding. Barricades have been placed to close the area to traffic. Do not drive around barricades or through flooded roadways.
All other streets in South River are unaffected and remain open to traffic.
