Princeton Battlefield Society honors veterans during ‘Wreaths Across America’

The Princeton Battlefield Society will join several other local heritage and community groups in participating in the annual Wreaths Across America event on Dec. 18.

The wreath-laying ceremonies are taking place at more than 3,000 locations across the United States, at sea and abroad.

The co-convenors of the Princeton event are the Sons of the American Revolution (Princeton/Cranbury Chapter), the Daughters of the American Revolution (Princeton Chapter), the New Jersey Sons of the Revolution, and NJ Freemasons (Princeton Lodge No. 38, Mercer Lodge No. 50 and others from the NJ 15th Masonic District).

The purpose is to commemorate American veterans and servicemen, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The ceremony will take place at the Colonnade of the Princeton Battlefield State Park, which is the site of the graves of several unknown soldiers killed at the Battle of Princeton on Jan. 3, 1777, according to a press release.
