Jan. 6, 2022, marks one year since the riots at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
A Princeton Rally & Candlelight Vigil will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Jan. 6 in Hinds Plaza in Princeton, adjacent to the Princeton Public Library (65 Witherspoon Street).
Co-sponsors to date include the Coalition for Peace Action, Indivisible Cranbury, and RepresentUs.
Advocates are demanding that elected leaders pass legislation including the Freedom to Vote Act, the Protecting Our Democracy Act, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and DC Statehood.
Attendees will be encouraged to stand vigil holding battery-powered candles.
They are also encouraged to wear masks and to observe physical distancing to the degree possible.
