Girl Scouts donate birthday bags to Hillsborough Community Assistance Network

The Girl Scout organization celebrated its 110th birthday on March 12 to commemorate the day in 1912 when founder Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization’s first 18 members in Savannah, Georgia.

Hillsborough has more than 400 Girl Scouts and 335 dedicated adult volunteers, according to information provided by Danielle Greco.

To commemorate the organization’s birthday, Hillsborough Girl Scouts tied green ribbons on trees around the municipal complex; received a proclamation from the mayor recognizing the Girl Scout organization; and held a “birthday party” complete with pizza, popcorn, a movie, songs and a craft.

In addition, Hillsborough scouts donated more than 80 “birthday bags” to the Hillsborough Community Assistance Network so young girls and boys in need can celebrate a fun and festive birthday, Greco said.
