JACKSON — The 14th annual Wounded Warrior parade will take place on Oct. 8 in Jackson.
The event is hosted by Mayor Mike Reina and the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club, South Stump Tavern Road, and this year the club will be paying special honor to World War II veterans, according to a press release.
At 9 a.m. Oct. 8, veterans from the community will assemble at the Jackson Justice Complex, West Veterans Highway, as they prepare for a ride to the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club.
The veterans will be escorted by the Jackson Police Department, Jackson’s volunteer fire companies, the Jackson Township First Aid Squad, motorcycle groups and individuals who will volunteer to show support for the veterans, according to the press release.
The parade/escort is expected to leave the Jackson Justice Complex at about 9:30 a.m.
Residents and members of local organizations and clubs are being invited to line up between the Jackson Justice Complex and the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club as a sign of support and to honor the veterans, according to the press release.
“The freedoms we enjoy as Americans have been purchased and maintained at a high price throughout our history. We owe a great debt to those who have served in defense of our nation.
“For many, their sacrifice has ended in permanent injury. It has been a true honor to ride alongside these heroes each year as we escort them. Showing your support will only take a few minutes out of your day, but will provide a lasting memory for these heroes,” Reina said.
Spectators will be asked to safely park their vehicles along the roads, wave a flag or hold a banner, and show their support as the parade passes by their location.
Any agency, club or group wishing to take part in this show of support is asked to contact Reina’s office at 732-928-1200, ext. 1211.
