E.K. “Kathi” Kovach

Mrs. Kovach, 59, of Raritan Township, died March 8 at home. Born in New Brunswick, she resided in North Brunswick and South River prior to moving to Raritan Township. She owned and operated Professional Show Services, Flemington. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Pittstown, where she was also a member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of Mount Zion Chapter No. 116, Order of the Eastern Star, Metuchen. She was predeceased by her father, Alexander Berta. She is survived by her mother, Eugenia Ponciroli Berta of Edison; a daughter, Kathryn Kovach; a son and daughter-in-law, P.J. and Rhonda Kovach of Denver; a sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Laszlo Soos of Milford; and three brothers and one sister-in-law, Fred and Phyllis Berta of Cornelius, N.C.; Alex Berta of Gilbert, Ariz.; and Eugene Berta of Trenton. A memorial Mass will be March 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church, Pittstown. Arrangements are by Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington. John Travis Fryzowicz

Mr. Fryzowicz, 89, of Old Bridge, died Feb. 22 at home. With his late wife, Anna, he owned Fry’s General Candy Store, Old Bridge, for more than 45 years. His wife, Anna Stanik Fryzowicz, died in 1984. Surviving are two sons, Joseph of the Dayton section of South Brunswick and Travis of Spotswood; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Eckman Funeral Home, Spotswood.
