Cornerstone Music Studios of Millstone on Sweetmans Lane in Millstone will offer Camp Cornerstone, a summer music symposium.
Camp Cornerstone will meet twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays for a total of six one-and-a-half-hour long classes. Session I will meet June 29 to July 17. Session II will meet July 20 to Aug. 7. Campers are encouraged to sign up for as many non-conflicting classes as they like.
Classes include “The Best of Broadway,” which has been designed for the young singer entering grades 2-5 and explores different Broadway repertoire to teach performance techniques.
The “Broadway Stars” class was developed for the older singer entering grades 6- 12 and offers a more in-depth approach to Broadway singing and audition preparation.

he “Cornerstone Singers from Broadway
to a cappella” class offers singers entering grades 2-12 the chance to learn how to sing in parts and make music with their friends. Musical numbers will be choreographed for an end of the session performance.
“Rock On!” is a continuation of Cornerstone’s series “Rock Band” and allows musicians of all backgrounds to come together and dominate the stage. This series fosters cooperation and creativity in young musicians playing at varying levels. Students must be entering grades 6-12 and must have studied their instrument for a minimum of six months to enroll in this class.
The “Music: The Way Things Work” class explores music theory, composition, ear training and sight singing with the goal of providing students with a range of tools to create their own music. Students must be entering grades 6-12.
“From Bach to Beyonce: The History of Western Music” class includes listening examples, dances and interactive lectures. This class for students in grades 6-12 explores Gregorian Chant to the music heard in New York City subways.
“History of Rock ‘N’ Roll” allows children entering grades 6-12 to explore the origins of American popular music.
A guest choreographer from New York City who has performed in shows all over the United States and in a major motion picture will spend one day each session working with campers and hosting a talkback session about life as a performing professional.
Faculty for Camp Cornerstone includes Christina Fountain, a mezzo soprano who has performed in numerous operatic roles and directed “Susanna” at the Manhattan School of Music where she holds a Master of Music Degree; Zachary Loeffler, a classical guitarist who has performed in Europe and the United States, taught music at Belvior Terrace in Lenox, Mass., and graduated cum laude from Vaderbilt University; and Laura Wittman, the founder and owner of Cornerstone Music Studios, a classically trained pianist who later branched into jazz, contemporary and classic rock.
Cornerstone Music Studios opened in 2007 with the mission to provide quality music instruction to students of all ages in a professional, creative and nurturing environment.

Cablevision Systems Corp. has activated Optimum WiFi wireless Internet access in commercial and high-traffic locations throughout Monmouth County.
The Monmouth County deployment is part of Cablevision’s larger initiative to provide Optimum WiFi wireless Internet access across its service area as a free enhancement for its Optimum Online highspeed Internet customers. Optimum WiFi has also been activated on the commuter rail platforms and station parking lots at six Monmouth County train stations.
Current Optimum Online customers using laptop computers and portable WiFienabled devices like the iPhone, iPod Touch and BlackBerry can access OptimumWiFi through a simple sign-on screen. Once a customer logs into the service by entering their Optimum User ID and password, the network delivers speeds of up to 3 megabits-per-second downstream and up to 1.5 megabits-per-second upstream.
The Monmouth County WiFi locations are Allenwood, Asbury Park, Avon by the Sea, Belmar, Bradley beach, Clarksburg, Colts Neck, Cream Ridge, Englishtown, Farmingdale, Freehold, Howell, Manalapan, Manasquan, Marlboro, Millstone, Morganville, Neptune, Neptune City, Oakhurst, Ocean Grove, Ocean Township, Sea Girt, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, South Belmar, Upper Freehold and Wall.
The Monmouth County train stations with WIFI are: Aberdeen-Matawan, Asbury Park, Belmar, Manasquan, Bradley Beach and Spring Lake.
Cablevision has partnered with Comcast on a trial to expand Cablevision customers’ access to Optimum WiFi in New Jersey at many commuter rail stations in Comcast’s service area. Stations operated in Monmouth County by Comcast include Allenhurst, Elberon, Hazlet, Long Branch, Middletown, Monmouth Park and Red Bank.
