A passenger in a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder was killed and six other occupants were injured when the SUV rolled over several times on Old Trenton Road during a rainstorm June 26, according to the West Windsor Police Department.
When police arrived at the crash, which was reported at 10:40 p.m., they discovered the SUV had overturned and three of the seven occupants were thrown from the vehicle. One of the three occupants who was ejected was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The six surviving victims were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton. Two of the victims were listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, police said. The other four suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police determined that the SUV had been traveling west on Old Trenton Road near Cubberly Road when the driver lost control. It had been raining and the road was wet.
The SUV left the roadway to the right and overturned several times before coming to rest, police said. Three of the seven victims, including the 44-year-old person who was killed, were thrown from the vehicle.
Police officers from the West Windsor, Robbinsville and Hamilton police departments responded to the crash. Firefighters from West Windsor Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 and Princeton Junction Fire Co. No. 1 also responded.
The West Windsor Township Division of Fire & Emergency Services responded, along with Capital Health Systems paramedics. Emergency medical technicians from Lawrence, Robbinsville and East Windsor townships and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton also were dispatched.
The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office’s Serious Crash Response Team and the Middlesex County Coroner’s Office also were sent to the crash scene.
