American Legion Post 401 will conduct its annual food drive in support of the South Brunswick Food Pantry’s Feinstein Challenge through April 27.
Each year during March and April, the Feinstein Foundation challenges antihunger agencies across the country to raise funds and collect as many food donations as possible. Each food item donated is valued at $1. Alan Shawn Feinstein, founder of the Feinstein Foundation, then divides his donation of $1 million proportionately among approximately 2,000 agencies participating in the challenge.
Items needed include coffee, tea, juice boxes, water, Parmalot milk, vegetables, canned and boxed potatoes, rice, canned meats, beef stew, chili, canned and boxed pastas, cereal and oatmeal, boxed macaroni and cheese, boxed cake mixes and icing, pie crusts and filling, brownie mixes, muffin mix and soups.
Area residents may drop off nonperishable food donations after 2 p.m. every day at the American Legion post, 148 Major Road, Monmouth Junction.
