SOUTH BRUNSWICK — The South Brunswick School District and the South Brunswick Public Library are inviting members of the community to engage in a common reading experience called South Brunswick Reads (SBReads).
SBReads is a “New Year’s resolution of the highest caliber, as there is nothing like a shared experience to foster community ties while improving literacy,” Library Director Chris Carbone said.
The selections were fairy tales in 2013, “Adventures in Wonderland” in 2012 and “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” in 2011.
SBReads 2014 will focus on a character trait: GRIT, or Gumption, Resilience, Inner Strength and Tenacity. GRIT is a character trait that can lead to success no matter how high the obstacles, according to organizers of the program.
Students and residents of all ages are invited to read books, articles and essays, view media, and engage in discussion around GRIT and overcoming obstacles. The goal is to discuss, as a community, how to develop and foster grit in adults and children.
