Woman’s Club to hold Earth Day activities

The Conservation Department of the North Brunswick Woman’s Club is celebrating Earth Day in April by hosting several activities during the next few months.

An Earth Day T-shirt design contest will be held in March at each elementary school which will be used to make shirts available for purchase. Teachers will judge the contest and local businesses can sponsor the cost of purchasing and printing the shirts. Proceeds will go toward the purchase of general science equipment for each school. Students will wear the shirts in April during school cleanups. The middle and high schools will participate in a photograph competition which features an act of conservation or recycling. Prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place winners.

The Woman’s Club will clean up Finnegans Lane in April as part of the Adopt-a-Road program and will plant flowers at the Ronald McDonald House, New Brunswick.

A donation of conservation books will be made to each school’s library during May, and a club member will read a portion of a book to the children at a presentation at each elementary school.
