Joseph “Phil” Darwish
Mr. Darwish, 82, of North Brunswick, died Nov. 2 at Francis E. Parker Memorial Home, New Brunswick. Born in New Bern, N.C., he resided in New Brunswick prior to moving to North Brunswick 40 years ago. He was a maintenance foreman at Cook and Douglass colleges, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, for several years, retiring in 1986. Prior to that, he was a service attendant at Bill’s Texaco, New Brunswick, for more than 30 years. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Trenton. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Pepitone Darwish; a daughter, Denise Buckley of North Brunswick; and a grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. Interment was at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick. Arrangements were by Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick.
Ann “Betty” E. Meyer Pettinato
Mrs. Pettinato, 76, of Albrightsville, Pa., and formerly Union Beach, died Nov. 22 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, Pa. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Union Beach prior to moving to Albrightsville six years ago. She was employed at Bradlees, Hazlet, for 10 years, retiring in 1992. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. She was a member of Keyport Elks Ladies Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony J. Pettinato in 1998; a sister, Kathryn Donohue; and a brother-in-law, James E. Donohue. She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Ronald Ellsworth, of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick, Susan and Robert Dane, of Keyport, Katherine and Martin Ziolkowski, of Albrightsville, Pa., with whom she resided, and Mary and Sal Pecora, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Patricia Pettinato, of Union Beach, Robert and Lisa Pettinato, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, and Joseph Pettinato of Freehold and Debra Pettinato, of Split Rock, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Nov. 26 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A service will be Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
William J. Larkin
Mr. Larkin, 56, of East Brunswick, died Nov. 18 at home. Born in Flushing, N.Y., he had resided in North Brunswick before moving to East Brunswick 25 years ago. Mr. Larkin was a sales manager at Nynex, New York City, for 23 years, retiring in 1994. He was a communicant of St. Bartholomew’s Roman Catholic Church, East Brunswick, and a Third Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 11873. He was an Eagle Scout, and a Boy Scout adviser. Mr. Larkin is survived by his wife of 25 years, Janet Bernasconi Larkin; and a son and daughter, Brian and Christine Larkin, both Jamesburg. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick. The Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 200 Middlesex Turnpike, Iselin 08831.
