The township of North Brunswick wishes to remind residents seasonal recycling pickup is now under way, and there have been some changes to grass collection procedures.
Collection began April 18 and will be held once weekly through Oct. 7. Packaging for clippings may be in 20-gallon open containers (plastic garbage cans) or biodegradable paper bags (available free at the Department of Public Works at Quarry Lane). The maximum grass container weight is 40 pounds. Residents may also cut grass and leave it by using a mulching mower.
Brush pickup is Thursdays and Fridays Residents should call for a collection request, and the collection list will close to additions at noon Wednesdays. Maximum diameter of brush is four inches, and brush should be packaged in bundles of four feet or less, 24 inches around, and weighing no more than 40 pounds. Reserve spaces for flea market by May 12
John Adams Middle School, 1450 Redmond St., North Brunswick, will hold an outdoor flea market May 14 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (rain date May 15). Vendor spaces are $15, and vendors must provide tables. Reservations must be made by May 12.

Fertility awareness discussion May 7
Saint Peter’s University Hospital, 254 Easton Ave., New Brunswick, will hold a fertility awareness discussion for mothers and daughters age 10-13 May 7 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Issues to be discussed include how the body changes during adolescence, how the reproductive system functions, emotional changes that occur during adolescence and self respect. Tickets now on sale for ‘Smokey Joe’s Café’
Tickets are now available for the musical revue “Smokey Joe’s Café” May 7 at 8 p.m. at State Theatre, 110 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick.
