Beth Ann Dickinson, the 5-8 sophomore guard from Milltown (Spotswood High School), scored 19 points last Thursday to lead the St. Peter’s Peahens to an 85-52 victory over visiting Iona. She led her team in scoring for the second straight game, as she had put in a career high 32 points on the previous Sunday in Lincoln, Neb., against a powerful Cornhusker squad ranked 35th in the nation by ESPN. Dickinson’s scoring average for the week was 25.5, yet her value to the team went well beyond her scoring skills. In the battle with Nebraska, she led her team in scoring, rebounding (9) and steals (4). She also went on to set a school record for freethrow accuracy in a single game with her 14-for-14 performance. She broke the record of former Peahen great and current Assistant Coach Stephanie DeWolfe, who shot 12-for-12 from the line on Feb. 16, 1996, against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival Canisius. For her efforts, Dickinson was named the MAAC Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 11.
