Children’s fitness program set in Hazlet

The Hazlet Recreation Commission is offering a fitness program for children. The 10 sessions are 45 minutes each. Persons may register at the James J. Cullen Community Center for either of the following sessions: classes for kindergarten through grade 3 from 3:40-4:25 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning March 21 at Lillian Drive School; classes from 3:40-4:25 p.m. on Thursdays for kindergarten through first grade begin March 23 at Middle Road School. Enrollment is limited to 20 students per class. Cost of the program is $30. Payment is by check only. For additional information, call the recreation center at (732) 739-0653.

‘Mom or Dad and Me’ offered at Hazlet Rec.

Hazlet Recreation Commission is sponsoring "Mom or Dad and Me" (formerly "Mommy and Me") for 2-year-olds beginning March 27. The class will be directed by Robin Olsen. The program will be held from 10-11 a.m. for eight Mondays at the James J. Cullen Center in Veterans Memorial Park, Union Avenue. The child’s birth certificate and proof of residency are needed at the time of registration. Registration will be taken through March 24. Enrollment is limited. There is a $5 charge for late registrations. The cost of the program is $45 for Hazlet residents, and $90 for nonresidents. Payment accepted by check only. Almost Seniors softball season begins June 11

Registrations are now being accepted for Hazlet Recreation’s "Almost Seniors" softball League which will begin on June 11. Games will be played Sunday evenings, beginning at 5 p.m., at Veteran’s Memorial Park. The program is intended to be a co-ed fun league with no trophies or prizes awarded. Each team will have a 20-maximum player roster with an equal number of men and women.

Players must be 35 years of age or over and use their own bat and glove. The cost is $20 and includes a T-shirt. Participants may register at the Recreation Office located in the James J. Cullen Center in Veteran’s Memorial Park, 1776 Union Ave., Hazlet, through May 25. No registrations will be accepted after that time. Payment by check only. Teen Institute to hold club night March 30

Raritan High School’s Teen Institute of the Garden State (TIGS) is sponsoring "The Spot" on March 30 from 6-10 p.m. in the school cafeteria, Middle Road, Hazlet.

"The Spot" is an evening of special desserts, frozen beverages, and dancing in a black-lit section of the school cafeteria, which has been transformed to have a club-like atmosphere. The evening is designed to allow students the chance to experience a fun-filled evening without alcohol or other drugs. Tickets are $3 and may be purchased at the door.
