Lawrence police are looking for a man last seen wearing a gray business suit, dark glasses and a white construction hard hat who robbed the Summit Bank in Manors Shopping Center Friday morning.
The man, sporting a goatee, entered the bank at 9:06 a.m., handed over a note demanding money and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
The man entered the bank on Lawrenceville-Pennington Road at Keefe Road and threatened the use of a weapon, police stated.
The teller said she believed she saw the handle of a gun in the man’s possession. Police believe the suspect is armed and say he should be considered armed and dangerous by the public.
It was not known in what direction the man fled after the robbery or if he used a car to leave the shopping center.
The bank is located near the Lawrence border with Hopewell Township, a mile from the Federal City Road interchange with Interstate Highway 95. A search of the surrounding area turned up nothing useful.
The Trenton office of the FBI has been contacted and is assisting in the investigation, police said.
The bank robber is described by police as white or Hispanic with a dark complexion, approximately 40 years old with a large build and weighing about 200 pounds. He has a short, partially gray goatee.
Police said they are investigating to see if there are any connections with other bank robberies, but none are known at this time.
There were customers present at the time of the robbery, though police would not say how many. No one at Summit Bank was hurt during the incident, police said.
Officer Timothy Drew and Detective William C. Chester Jr. of the Lawrence Police Department are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call Lawrence police at 896-1111.
