Foodtown cake decorator wins A.C. competition
Cake decorator Diane Salafia recently won the Puratos Regional "Global Wedding Cake Competition" in Atlantic City. The Toms River resident is a cake decorator for the Red Bank Foodtown supermarket.
She competed with decorators from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware to win the first of 12 regional competitions.
Salafia has been employed by Food Circus Foodtown Supermarkets for over 10 years and is the lead decorator in the Red Bank store.
Monmouth Museum
offers decorating series
The Friends of the Monmouth Museum is holding a "Creative Decoration and Design and a Light Lunch" series.
The museum is located at parking lot No. 1 on the Brookdale Community College campus in Lincroft. Presentation price is $15 for museum members; $20 for nonmembers; and, for both presentations, $40 for members, $55 for nonmembers.
"Holidays Made Easy" is scheduled for Dec. 4. Individuals will learn tips on holiday decorating and entertaining from the Friends of the museum.

Cooperative Extension offers free day-care tips
Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Monmouth County, Freehold, is offering its newsletter Connections free to family day-care providers.
The newsletter is written by the extension’s National Network for Child Care, and is distributed every three months.

Local agencies need volunteer assistance
The Volunteer Center of Monmouth County, Long Branch, needs volunteers for a Tinton Falls national health and safety agency on Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Duties include general office procedures and data entry, and minimum age is 18.
A Tinton Falls health and safety national chapter needs individuals to help in reorganizing, including lifting heavy boxes, organizing and labeling a storage area. Minimum age is 18.
A Red Bank charitable organization needs volunteers to make minor repairs, assist with minor maintenance, and remove weekly garbage to the street. Hours are daily, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and/or Tuesday-Thursday, 5-9 p.m., and minimum age is 18.
A county mentoring agency needs individuals to assist at its annual Christmas party, Dec. 17, noon to 3 p.m. Volunteers will help children with projects and help them purchase toys or clothing. Minimum age is 21.
