The new year will leave open spaces on Lawrence’s boards and committees

A few good volunteers are being sought to fill a number of vacancies on 15 of the 18 local boards and committees that advise Township Council, including the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
Township Council will appoint volunteers to fill the vacancies after it holds its annual reorganizational meeting New Year’s Day. The deadline for applying is Dec. 22. Current board members, whose terms are expiring Dec. 31, may apply for reappointment.
The Planning Board has three vacancies, created by the expiration of the terms of Sarah G. Crowley, Michael S. Powers and Elizabeth Donahue.
Ms. Crowley and Mr. Powers are finishing four-year terms as regular members, and Mrs. Donahue is completing a two-year term as Alternate No. 2. The four-year terms expire in 2004, and the two-year term ends in 2002.
At the Zoning Board of Adjustment, there are three vacancies, created by the expiration of the terms of Jane Thompson, Edward H. Wiznitzer and Lisa Hosfield.
Ms. Thompson and Mr. Wiznitzer are completing four-year terms as regular members and Ms. Hosfield is completing a two-year term as Alternate No. 1. The four-year terms will expire in 2004, and the two-year term will expire in 2002.
The Affordable Housing Board has three openings – two for occupants of a low- or moderate-income unit, and one for the Alternate No. 2 position.
The three-year terms of Madeline Philippi and Walter Scott, who are the low/moderate income representatives, are expiring. There is also a vacancy for the Alternate No. 2 slot. The low/moderate income representatives’ terms will expire in 2003 and the unexpired term for Alternate No. 2 will expire in 2002.
At the Cable TV Advisory Committee, there are two vacancies caused by the expiration of the terms of Mohinder S. Bathala and Caroline Coleman. The four-year terms will end in 2004.
The Construction Board of Appeals has four openings – one for a regular member and three for alternate members, representing the plumbing and engineering trades. The four-year terms will end in 2004.
The vacancies are being created by the expiration of the regular plumber’s seat held by Richard L. Hocking; and by the expiration of the terms of Oscar Sandoval and Philip Paul, who hold the engineer alternate’s seats; and by the expiration of the term of Gary Michaud, who is the plumber alternate.
There are two openings on the Cultural and Heritage Advisory Committee for unexpired terms, caused by the resignation of two members. One term expires in 2001 and the second term ends in 2003.
The Greenway Committee has two vacancies. One vacancy is being created by the expiration of the term of Charles Carmalt. The second opening is an existing vacancy. The terms are for three years, and they will end in 2003.
At the Growth and Redevelopment Committee, there are three openings for Class IV members (interested citizens), created by the expiration of the three-year terms of Michael Horan, Robert Kulak and Richard Gramlich. The new terms will expire in 2003.
The Health Advisory Committee has two openings. Victoria Barry and Mohinder S. Bathala are completing three-year terms. The terms will expire in 2003.
There are six vacancies on the Historic Preservation Advisory Committee. The terms of five regular members are expiring, and the sixth opening is for the unfilled unexpired term of Alternate No. 1.
The four-year terms of regular members Ahmad Moini, Colette Coolbaugh, James Cleak, Darryl Mann and Douglas Sargent are ending. The sixth opening is for the unexpired term of Alternate No. 1. The regular members’ terms will expire in 2004, and the Alternate No. 1 post will expire in 2002.
The Municipal Alliance Committee on Drug and Alcohol Abuse has three openings for Class III members (interested citizens). The two-year terms of Stephanie Chorney, Colleen Costello and Susan Herrmann are expiring. The terms will end in 2002.
The Public Safety Advisory Committee has three vacancies for community representatives, created by the expiration of the terms of C. Lind Aitken, John P. Oakley, Jr., and Joseph Russo. The terms are for two years, and they will end in 2002.
There are three openings on the Recreation Advisory Committee because the terms of Marie Price, Albert W. Pitman and Marie Tagliaferri are expiring. The three-year terms will end in 2003.
At the Senior Executive Committee, there are three openings created by the expiration of the terms of Ruth Banach, Mary Eva DiDonato and Anna Colavita. The four-year terms will end in 2004.
And the Shade Tree Advisory Committee has three vacancies – two openings created by the expiration of the terms of C. Lind Aitken and Dr. Carmine DiSanzo, and an existing vacancy. All of the terms are for three years – two that will end in 2003, and one that will expire in 2002.
