LBA HIGHLIGHTS

   At the end of the fourth week of play, the games in the Lambertville Basketball Association league continue to get tighter.
   Here is a look at the games played through January 27.

Third- and fourth-grade girls


Sneakers Plus 9

United National Bank 7


   In a real nip and tuck game, Sneakers Plus squeaked out a win over United National Bank.
   It was a great offensive and defensive game for both teams.
   The leading scorer for Sneakers Plus was Stephanie Davis with four points. Alexis Walker added another three points, and Jamie Tillett added two points. Taylor Peccarelli played great defense with several steals, rebounds and great passes. Brittany Shurts and Catherine Seeley made many fast breaks and great passes with awesome man-to-man defense.
   United National’s leading scorer was Olivia DiLauro with three points. Sarah Mohn and Angelique Platas each added two points. Kaylin Campbell played awesome defense with several blocks and steals. Kristen Pauley, Christina DeBartolmeo and Olivia Hagerty made some great passes and played good defense.
Cifelli’s 20


R&R Painting 14


   Cifelli’s won its first game of the season on Saturday over R&R Painting.
   Katelyn Cifelli was the high scorer for Cifelli’s with all 20 points. Meghan Schermerhorn and Celine Koziel played great defense.
   Cori Muscatell was the leading scorer for R&R Painting with six points. Corrine Hart added four points, and Julie Burd and Allison Coleman each added two points.
   R&R had a great comeback after half-time. Amy Gray, Kerry Piel and Marina Cordes played great defense for R&R.

Cafe Europe 26

Rocket Launchers 21


   Cafe Europa remained undefeated with a win on Saturday over the Rocket Launchers.
   In a tremendous defensive game, Nick Woodhull led Cafe Europa with 10 points to victory. Also contributing to the win for Cafe Europa was Brian Snell with eight points, Corey O’Neill with four points and Erik Romeo and Alex Baron each with two points.
New Orleans Cafe 23


Custom Cooling 15


   New Orleans Cafe picked up its third win of the season over Custom Cooling.
   This was a well-played game from both teams. New Orleans Cafe had a strong scoring effort from Matt Kritz, Kyle Stintsman and Daniel Marley, who each scored six points. Justin Roy added four points, and Kyle Schenck scored one point. Ricky Esposito and Bryan Culbertson both added a strong effort on defense. Daniel Marley and Kyle Stintsman both added good rebounding.
   Custom Cooling was led by Adam Hoagland’s 10 points. Sean Leslie added three points, and Chet Errico finished with two points. The defense played tough, led by Donald Nuzzio, Adrian LaRowe and Allen Lassen.
Fifth- and sixth-grade girls


Garefinos 17

T-Recs 16


   In a real nail-biter to the end, Garefino’s won its third game of the season over T-Recs.
   The girls played tough defense and tough offense. The leading scorer for Garefino’s was Chelsea Fulper with eight points, followed by Brittany Muscatell with seven points. Nicole Melnick added two points for Garefinos. The defense was led by Elise Garefino, who had many steals and great passes. Adena Platas and Christina Aiello both played good defense and had good passing.
   T-Recs scoring was led by Kelsey Cappelle with nine points, followed by Becky Seeley with five points and Courtney Stintsman with two points All the girls played awesome defense, and Christina Guzman hung tough with several steals and good passes. Katie Pauley made several nice assists, and Shannon McGough played tough defense under the basket.
Lambertville Pharmacy 32


Lieggi’s 12


   The Lambertville Pharmacy won its second game of the season Saturday over Lieggi’s.
   The Pharmacy took the lead early in the game and maintained it throughout the game. Nicole Sturick led the attack with 20 points. Devon Shire finished with 10 points, and Gloria Slovak added two points. Anna Franzini, Joanne DiSalvi, Lara Coleman and Marjensa DeGeorgiao all played good defense.
   Lieggi’s team fought a good game. Nicole Esposito worked hard to open up the offense with consistent picks while adding two points. Brittany Tillett had many rebounds and quite a few tie-ups while finishing with three points. Tory Marley fought hard offensively and defensively, adding six points. Ashley Lieggi contributed two points. Nicole Case and Colleen Erickson fought hard and put out a good effort throughout the game.

E.J. Lelie 35

Kiwanis 26


   E.J. Lelie’s won its third straight game of the season Jan. 24 over Kiwanis.
   The game was a hard-fought one with Kiwanis leading at the half, and E.J. Lelie coming on strong in the second half. Zach Davis led the way for E.J. Lelie with 17 points. Alex Harrison finished with 12 points, Jay Carmen added five points, and Carl Snell netted two points.
   Leading the way for Kiwanis was Chris Vaccaro with 12 points. Kyle Ericson added six points, Garrett Williamson scored four points, and Bob Piel and Kyle Simonye each finished with two points. Good defense was played by both teams.
E.J. Lelie 48


Woodens 41


   E.J. Lelie won its fourth game of the season Saturday over Woodens.
   This game was a closely fought battle throughout that had to be settled in overtime. Zach Davis led Lelie’s with 17 points while Alexander Harrison scored 12 points. Jeff Carmen finished with eight points, David Mummey had three points, and Carl Snell and Andrew McCurdy each added two points.
   Wooden’s was led by Ryan Marriott with 14 points, while Anthony Danese added 10 points. Kyle Hart finished with six points, Dan Musselman scored five points, Mike Harding netted four points, and Zach Berger hit for two points.
Amwell Auto 24


Kiwanis 23


   In a very close game that went down to the last second, Amwell Auto picked up the win over Kiwanis.
   Leading the way for Amwell Auto was Chad Ennis with eight points and Kellen Medway with seven points. Robbie Williamson and Bob Irven each added four points, and Ryan Irven finished with two points.
   Kiwanis was led in scoring by Chris Vaccaro’s 12 points. Joseph Battiato netted six points, and Kyle Ericson scored five points. Good defense was played by both teams.
