Helmetta council ignores children’s needs

Four years ago I went to our Borough Council meeting, the first of a number of times, because we did not have a single playground for our children.

The only negligible result of this was the adoption of the matter as a campaign issue.

Now that the candidates have been elected and years have passed, we still have nothing we can even remotely call a recreation area.

I watch with envy as the surrounding towns are constantly developing new play areas of all kinds (Plainfield even has a park for dogs), and we cannot find a way to provide for our children.

I marvel that once again political promises are only made to get votes. Congratulations to the Democratic Helmetta council members — they got themselves elected, and our kids continue to get nothing.
