Toby Kline, the highly respected principal of Community Park School, plansto retire before the end of this year, along with three long-time Princeton Regional School District employees.
Superintendent Claire Sheff Kohn announced that district administrators and Community Park faculty and staff will have a say in who succeeds Ms. Kline, who has been principal for three years.
Ms. Kline will retire effective Nov. 1, but Dr. Kohn said the district expects to fill the position by the beginning of the school year.
Princeton High School nurse Jacqueline Wadsworth will have 37 years of service in the district when she retires on July 1. Also retiring effective July 1 are PHS chemistry teacher Janet Brittain, who will have 19 years of service, and Littlebrook School English as a Second Language teacher Katherine Miller, who will have 17 years of service.
To find a new principal for Community Park, the district will set up an interview committee with two school board members; Lewis Goldstein, the district’s human resources director; Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum Jeffrey Graber; one elementary school principal; representatives of the teachers’ and administrators’ unions; two or three Community Park teachers; and one member of the school’s support staff.
Dr. Kohn said the district would advertise for the opening and seek candidates from within the district. The committee will screen applications and will interview between six and eight candidates.
Dr. Kohn will not be part of the process until the committee whittles down the candidates to two or three finalists.
Dr. Kohn will interview the finalists and recommend her choice to the school board.
