Bicycle tour will offer riders view of Central Jersey

Looking for a way to have fun and get exercise too? Join other cyclists Saturday, Aug. 4, for the 21st annual Princeton Bicycling Event, which will offer rides of various lengths through the beautiful countryside around Princeton and the central New Jersey area.
Seven tours from 16 to 100 miles will be available for all levels of experience, from beginning adult to expert rider. Anyone who rides a bicycle safely and wears an approved cycling helmet is welcome to attend.
Sponsored by the Princeton Free Wheelers, and supported by many area businesses, the "Bicycle Touring Extravaganza" will begin and end at Rider University, Route 206, just south of I-95 in Lawrence Township.
Services will include convenient parking, handicap-accessible rest rooms, vendors, free bicycle adjustment at the start, cue sheets, road markings, on-call emergency help, and water and snack stops on all routes. Some 1,500 cyclists from New Jersey and nearby states are expected to participate.
"We recommend advance registration," said Norman Bathos, event chairman.
The club sponsors Saturday and Sunday bicycle rides in the Central Jersey area each weekend during the year, and evening rides in the summer. Members receive The Freewheel, a monthly newsletter describing rides, trips and social events.
Princeton Free Wheelers enjoy the camaraderie of riding with a group, informal advice to new members, maintenance tips and education about safe riding practices.
The registration fee is $20 ($10 for ages 16 and under). Registration forms for the Princeton Bicycling Event may be picked-up at any area bike shop, or send a SASE to P.O. Box 1204, Princeton, NJ 08542-1204.
