Committee member disappointed in treatment by council

I would like to thank the Tinton Falls Borough Council for the opportunity to let me serve on the Open Space Committee for the past two years. It was a rewarding and enjoyable experience.

I would also like to express my disappointment in the way they handled my interest in being reappointed at the end of my term. I expressed interest in being reappointed to at least one council member.

It was not until the July 3 reorganization meeting that the councilman who is the committee liaison found out there were other residents interested in serving on the committee.

It was put to vote that night without my notification or the council liaison being previously notified.

Therefore, I was not given the opportunity to petition the council for reappointment. I never received notification after the fact from any council member. One of my fellow committee members called me one week after the reorganization meeting to inform me of the new appointment.

I hope that the council treats their future volunteers with more respect and courtesy if they would like to maintain the level of volunteerism they have today. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate and wish the two new committee members the best of luck in serving on the committee.
