Fountain of Youth
Festival set for Aug. 15
The Jackson Township Senior Citizens Community Center is holding its second Fountain of Youth Festival on Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the center, 45 Don Connor Boulevard.
This all-day celebration will feature many presentations, hands-on workshops, health screenings, door prizes and lots of freebies.
Presentations will be given on the following topics: financial strategies, nutrition and natural pharmacy, "You’re Not Alone With Your Problems," retirement living options, and fix-it services. Among the hands-on workshops offered will be beauty makeovers, computer workshops, feng shui, kinesiology/reflexology, massage, reiki, tai chi, and low impact aerobics.
Also, information on paid and volunteer work opportunities with Green Thumb, Six Flags and Preferred Health, among others, will be available. For transportation or more information, call (732) 928-2313.

Tiny Tots program
The Howell Recreation Department is holding registration for its Tiny Tots program from Aug. 13-17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Tiny Tots program, for 3- to 5-year-old children, runs from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and includes story time, playtime, sing-alongs and other activities. The fee is $25 for the six-week session at the recreation building.
A copy of the child’s birth certificate is required at time of registration along with proof of residency. All participating children must be completely toilet trained and have all required medical forms completed one week prior to the start of the program. Details: (732) 938-4500, Ext. 2501.
Nok hockey tournament
winners announced
Lakewood Mayor Marta Harrison presented awards to the winners of the Lakewood Recreation Nok Hockey Tournament, sponsored by the Township Committee on all playgrounds.
First-place winners from each playground competed in a single elimination tournament held at the Pine Park site. In the 6-8 age group, Sunset Playground’s Conrad Millward defeated Oak Street Playground’s Carlton Ford.
Clifton Avenue Playground’s representative Jovani DeJesus took first-place honors in the 9-11 age group by defeating Sunset Playground’s D.J. Tworkoski.
In the senior division (12-15) Nok Hockey champion David Jackson took the first-place ribbon, narrowly defeating Pine Park champion Slloydda Burgess. More than 400 playground participants competed in the annual summer recreation event.
