The following are the results of the Tamarack Women’s 18-Hole Golf Association’s Oct. 2 Two Ball Best Ball Tournament. Lee Barra and Meryl Abramowitz took first place with a 66 (match of cards), followed by Carolyn Meyer and Claudia Homoki (66), Terry Massaro and Judy Weinberg (69), Susan Kelner and Thelma Tsacnaris (71), and Jean Hetzler and Perry Pernice (71). Rita Reisert had low putts of 29.

The Sayreville Stingrays girls soccer team took first place at the Hazlet Columbus Tournament. They were undefeated, beating the Old Bridge Blue Devils, 3-1; Middletown Avalanche, 2-0; Colts Neck Tigers, 2-0, who they also beat in the championship game, 3-2. The Stingrays are: Katy Bednarz, Lynn Bloodgood, Kaitlyn Bouchard, Jillian Buckley, Nicole Dominik, Amanda Fuller, Kerry Heaney, Sarah Janas, Becky Miller, Melissa Mocarski, Stephanie Pires, Melissa Restivo, Amanda Vicari, Ashley Wetzel, and guest player Ashley Pires.

Old Bridge Little League will hold registrations on the following dates at the Clubhouse on Route 516: Nov. 2, from 7-9 p.m.; Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Nov. 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fees are $45 for cubs, $55 for individual players, and $65 for families. A refundable work bond is required, and there will be significant late fees for late registration (after Nov. 30). New registrants must bring birth certificates. Stockton College in Pomona will host the Grand Run Across Country Classic, a 5K run and scholarship walk, at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Preregistration for the event is $15 for the general public. The Sayreville Lady Bees defeated the Colts Neck Crushers 4-2 this week. Jolise Aponte led the offense with a two-goal effort. Brittni Rooth and Taylor Miller added one goal apiece. Julianna Burns (2) and Kimberly Moken were credited with assists. Nicole Holzapfel and Christina Medina played a solid game in the midfield for the Lady Bees. The Lady Bees improved their record to 5-0-0 for the season.

The first South River Rams Football Reunion, benefiting the Children of Frank Szabo Education Fund and the Edward Malinowksi Football Scholarship Award, will be held Nov. 3 at 5:30 p.m. following the football game. The reunion will be held at the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3001, 88 Jackson St., South River. The donation is $10 per person. All former Ram players, cheerleaders, band members, coaches and fans are welcome. The event is being sponsored by the 1978 and ’79 state championship teams. The Sayreville Leprechauns wrapped up their season last weekend against the Franklin Warriors. The Mighty Mites lost 18-0 despite good performances from Michael DePinto, Tyler Holsworth, Brandon Lenahan, Luke McNally, Robby Shine and Jason McMahon. The Junior PeeWees lost 18-0 despite solid play from Mike Katz, John Melillo, Jeff Scenna, Dan Ronan, Matt Gruytch, Larry Lenahan and Glenn Lucas. The PeeWees also lost 18-0 despite solid play from Ryan Switzer, Brian Delcolle, Ed Matias, John Narkiewicz, Tim Leonard and Jerry Flores. The Midgets lost a close 8-0 game despite solid play from Randy Lahrman, Mike Morella, Nelson Vargas and Mike Velardi.

The Sayreville Thunder, a boys U11 soccer team, took second place at the Wall Fall Classic on Oct. 6 and 7. In game one, against the Battle of Monmouth, the Thunder won 4-0 behind goals from Mike Kyriacov (two), Michael Leite, and C.J. Weiss. In game two, the Thunder beat Indian Mills Spirit by the score of 6-1, behind goals from Leite, Weiss and four goals from Christian Cox. The Thunder also beat Marlboro 2-0 behind goals from Kyriacov and Cox. The championship game went into double-overtime, sudden death, with no goalies. The Thunder lost to West Windsor 2-1 despite terrific play from the entire team.

On Oct. 14, the Thunder beat the Beachwood Magic, 2-0, behind a pair of goals from Weiss. The team is now 3-2 on the year.

The Madison Park girls 2002 softball registration will be held on Nov. 1 and 8 at the Old Bridge Library from 7-8:30 p.m. The league is open to all girls between the ages of 5 and 17 in the Old Bridge and surrounding areas. No work bond is required. All players receive a full uniform. Fees are $65 for the first child, $35 for each additional child (check or money order only). The Level 4 and 5 teams of Worldwide Gymnastics, Old Bridge, under the coaching efforts of Alesia Plock, competed at Northstars gym in Montville on Oct. 7. As a combined team, they earned first place, outscoring 10 other teams. Individual results are as follows: From the Level 4 team (6-8 year-olds), Kimberly Acer took fourth on vault, 10th on bars, first on beam, sixth on floor, and fourth in the all-around; Katherine Hungrige took seventh on bars and 12th all-around; Taryn McGrane took eighth on vault; and Sydney Wasserberger took third on floor. Of the 9-11-year-olds, Kristina Hungrige took second on vault, first on bars, third on beam and floor, and second in the all-around; Marisa Simone took third on vault and sixth in the all-around. Of the 12 and up age group, Stephanie Giacalone took first on vault, bars, beam, floor and all-around. From the Level 5 team (7-8-year-olds), Stephanie Fasano took second on vault, sixth on floor and seventh in the all-around. Of the 9-10-year-olds, Kaitlin Percheski took first on vault, third on beam, second on floor and fifth all-around; and Nicole Yee took sixth on vault, seventh on bars and beam, third on floor, and fourth in the all-around.
