Coach Jeff Horohonich (head varsity basketball coach for Immaculate Heart Academy High School, IHA) will hold an AAU basketball workout for girls ages 11 and under. In order to play on an 11-and-under AAU team players must be born in 1990 or later. The workout will be held at Immaculate Heart Academy, Washington Township, on Nov. 10 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Admission is free, and advanced level skills are required. Anyone who cannot attend this workout but is interested in playing AAU travel basketball in the spring should call Coach Horohonich at (201) 791-0342. If needed, call IHA for directions. Bergen Jazz 2002 sponsors AAU Basketball teams for girls 11U, 3U, 14U and 15U.

The Future Stars Gymnastics Academy of Hamilton competed in the Pumpkin Cup at Rutgers University Oct. 28. Ellise Kalpowitz of Monmouth Junction competed in the 12-year-old division, taking first place on vault with 9.5, and third on bars with 8.65. Rebbecca Castagnola of Kendall Park took fourth on bars with 8.45, and fifth on vault with 9.2. Sarah Caputo of Monmouth Junction took sixth on beam, while Lisa Bondi of Monmouth Junction scored 8.4 on vault. Marissa Liptak of Kendall Park competed in the 10-year-old division of level 5N, finishing seventh in the all-around. Liptak finished fourth on vault with 8.95, fifth on bars with 8.85, and eighth on floor.
