The Long Branch Recreation Wrestling Club is holding registration through Friday at the Recreation Office at 85 Second Ave. Children must currently be in grades 2-8 to be eligible. Registration fee is $40 per child. Teams will be traveling.
The Long Branch Police Athletic League will host this year’s NJ Association of the USA Boxing State Amateur Championships at Monmouth University, Anacon Hall, West Long Branch, on Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. Dinner, dessert, and a silent auction will precede the bouts. All proceeds will benefit the Long Branch Police Athletic League and the Long Branch Little League. The Long Branch Recreation Youth Basketball League registration is being held through Nov. 30 from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. (Monday-Friday), and 9 a.m. to noon (Saturdays starting Nov. 17) at the Long Branch Department of Recreation at 85 Second Ave. Registration fee is $20. Last day to register is Dec 1.
Dave Gallagher’s All-American Baseball Academy at Frogbridge will hold a two-day baseball clinic Dec. 29-30 at its facility in Millstone. Players in two age groups (10-12 and 13-18) are invited to register. There will also be a two-day coach’s clinic. Experienced clinicians will instruct players in areas such as bat control, advanced infield and outfield play, throwing off-speed pitches, situational hitting, and increasing pitching velocity. Coaches will learn more about practice organization, teaching the breaking ball, calling pitches, and identifying and correcting hitting and pitching flaws.
There will also be a question-and-answer session during which coaches may ask about any baseball topic. Registration will be limited to maintain the best instructor-player ratio. For more information, call (609) 208-1263.
