The Hazlet Wave U14 boys Premier team played Marlboro in back-to-back games on Sunday morning and Monday evening and came away with two decisive victories. On Sunday, the Wave defeated Stampede 4-1 at home with the scoring started by Scott Latham (unassisted) down the center line for a first-half score. The Wave came out in the second half, starting with a penalty shot by Sean Lennon into the top of the goal. Latham scored his second and third goals with passes from Sean Lennon and Josh Barbarich.

The following Monday night’s game was played under the lights, and the scoring started fast and furiously with the Wave coming out with a 5-0 victory. Sean Lennon and Jimmy Pineda assisted on the next goal by Conrad Symber on a run down the right side. Sean Lennon scored (unassisted) on a run down the middle. Angel Martinez scored the third goal of the half on a pass from Brendan Hilliard and that went over the goalie’s head. Scott Latham scored in the box on a header from Lennon. Goalie Jeff King assisted on the final goal of the game by Sean Lennon with a kick down the length of the field. Midfielders and forwards Justin Cesario, Tommy Friscia, Greg Godzwon and Matt Richards did an outstanding job of keeping the ball in the hands of the Wave’s offense. The defensive team of Martinez, Tommy Devlin, Tommy Grobelny, Mike Sullivan and Barbarich showed incredible footwork in keeping the ball away from the Stampede forwards. Goalie Jeff King stopped the Stampede in allowing only one goal in two games.

The Wave then ended their fall season with a decisive win over Toms River to take second place in the Premier Division. The game started out quickly with Sean Lennon scoring the first goal unassisted. The Wave scored three unanswered goals in the second half, starting with Scott Latham on a pass from Sean Lennon and Jimmy Pineda scoring twice with assists from Lennon and Angel Martinez. The other midfielders and forwards, Justin Cesario, Greg Godzwon, Brendan Hilliard, Robby Hollywood, Matt Richards and Conrad Symber did an outstanding job of keeping the ball in the Wave’s possession. The defensive team of Josh Barbarich, Tommy Devlin, Tommy Friscia, Tommy Grobelny and Mike Sullivan showed incredible footwork in keeping the ball away from the Fusion forwards. Goalie Jeff King, playing in his final game for the Wave, stopped the Fusion and gave them few chances on goal. Gene Lennon and Randy Richards coach Hazlet.
