The top-ranked Rumson-Fair Haven girls’ swim team proved they are every bit as good as advertised last week, while the Rumson boys’ team continued to undergo some growing pains.

Rumson-Fair Haven hosted Holmdel last week, with the girls winning their end of the meet 133-37, before the boys dropped a tight 88-80 match.

The Bulldogs dominated the water on the girls’ side, bringing home all 11 first-place spots, as well as capturing nine silver finishes.

Starting the win were Ashley Bissett, Johanna Kjesbu, Lindsay Wallace and Sara Moser-Cohen (200-meter medley relay); with Tess Lawes (200-meter freestyle); Trudy Wojciehowski (200-meter individual medley); Moser-Cohen (50-meter freestyle); Lindsay Weiner (100-meter butterfly); Samantha Hoffman (500-meter freestyle); Robin Coggins, Moser-Cohen, Wojciehowski and Bissett (200-meter freestyle relay); Coggins (100-meter backstroke); Kjesbu (100-meter breaststroke); Melissa Cuje, Lawes, Hoffman and Wojciehowski (400-meter freestyle relay) following.

Bringing home the six points awarded to the second-place relay team and four for individual races were Malenne Waena, Stephanie LoPresti, Karissa McGuire and Cuje (200 medley relay); Margaret Brainard (200 and 500 free); Katie Sinopoli (200 IM); Cuje (50 free); Lawes (100 butterfly); Coggins (100 free); Mackenzie Matena (100 backstroke); and Stephanie Knapp (100 breaststroke).

The Bulldogs came out strong in the beginning of the boys’ race, but after four events Holmdel’s deeper bench proved too much to hold on to the victory.

Rumson’s boys reached the wall before their guests eight times, with J.C. Rodenberg and Phil Rehders leading the way.

Individually Rodenberg won the 100 free and 100 backstroke, while Rehders took the 200 IM and 100 butterfly.

The two joined efforts with Shawn Matthews and Chris LoBiondo to win the 200 medley relay, and John Troynowski and Dan Haaran for the 400 freestyle relay.

Matthews also won individually in the 200 free.
