The Long Branch Department of Recreation is hosting an indoor soccer league for middle school and high school boys and girls. League is set to begin in mid-January. For more information, call (732) 571-6545.
David DeSarno, of Tinton Falls, is off to a flying start as a member of the Rutgers University indoor track and field team. At the season-opening Princeton Invitational on Dec. 7, DeSarno high-jumped 6’8", good enough for fourth place.
Senior Marc Wallace, of Little Silver, also had a solid showing, placing fourth in the 35-lbs. weight with an IC4A-qualifying mark of 56’0".
On the girls’ side, Rutgers Sarah Cullen, of Red Bank, finished first in the shot put with a distance of 46’.
GoodSports in Aberdeen is offering the following upcoming programs:
A roller hockey tournament for U10, U12, and men, starting Jan. 19, and a tournament for U14, U17, starting Jan. 20. Team fee is $350. First six teams to register in each age group.
Youth instructional roller hockey, $95 per player, starting Jan. 3 and running for seven weeks.
One-day soccer tournaments for U8 to U15 boys and girls.
Youth travel five-on-five league, starting Jan. 26 and 27, for U9 through U14 boys and girls.
Mens open cash tournament, starting Dec. 2 (eight-week tournament). Games played between 7 p.m. and 12 a.m.
Richie Williams Elite Training Camp, a three-day camp running Dec. 26, 27 and 28 for boys and girls ages 11 and up.
