The Bergen Jazz AAU will hold tryouts on Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. for their 13-and-under basketball team. Tryouts will be held at Immaculate Heart Academy (IHA) in Washington Township (Bergen County). Advanced level skills are required. All experienced players with advance skills, who are interested in playing traveling AAU basketball in the spring should attend. All players who played for the Jazz 12-and-under last year or in the Winter Hoop Zone League also must attend the tryouts. Anyone with questions should call Coach H at (201) 791-0342. This year the Bergen Jazz will also have teams for 10-and-under and 11-and-under. The 10-and-under will hold their tryouts Feb. 8 at 6 p.m., and tryouts for the 11-and-under will be held Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. All tryouts will be held at IHA.

The Jamesburg Baseball Association will hold sign-ups for the 2002 season on Jan. 25 and Feb. 1 from 6-8 p.m., and Jan. 26 and Feb. 2 from 9 a.m.-noon, at Jamesburg Borough Hall. Registration fee is $25. Minimum age is 5 years old by July, and includes ages 13-17. For more information, call (732) 521-2218.

The New Jersey Federation of Baseball Umpires Inc. has announced the following clinic dates: March 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28 and April 2 (examination). The clinics will be held from 7-9 p.m. at the Sayreville Civic Center Recreation Building on Dolan Street. The Middlesex County Over 50 Softball League is now accepting applications from individuals wishing to play softball in 2002. This is a slow-pitch, arc softball league where recreation and safety come first. All games are played on Saturday mornings at county area fields, and the season begins on April 13 and ends in late August. Eligible players must reach their 50th birthday no later than Dec. 31. Players do not need to be residents of Middlesex County. Anyone interested in playing this season should contact John DeNitto at (732) 257-1584 or e-mail him at [email protected].
