United Teletech donates $5,000 to local Red Cross

United Teletech Federal Credit Union, Tinton Falls, recently presented $5,000 to the Jersey Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross on the four-month anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

Funds were raised through individual member contributions to the credit union’s "Ribbons and Flags" campaign, established shortly after Sept. 11.

Red, white, and blue lapel ribbons created by staff were given to donors, and American flags, donated by Copy Quick, Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, were displayed in lobbies and officers at all credit union facilities.

"The funds will assist in the payments of mortgages, rent, utility bills, car and insurance payments, tuition and groceries," explained James Mazzacco, corporate funding manager of the Red Cross Jersey Coast chapter.

According to Mazzacco, more than $372 million has been distributed as part of the national relief efforts, with 87 Monmouth County families among the recipients.

Individuals needing assistance may call the chapter at (732) 493-9100.
