The Red Bank Visitors Center is seeking an executive director whose job will be to promote Red Bank as a desirable locale to live in, work in and visit.
The new executive director will oversee the startup and operation of the center, which will be situated within the Red Bank Train Station.
The position calls for a part-time, 30-hour-weekly director who will be paid $30,000 per year as an independent contractor reporting directly to the Visitors Center board.
According to Andrew Horgan, a member of the Visitors Center board and head of the search committee, the board is seeking candidates with a strong knowledge of Red Bank and the eastern Monmouth County/Shore area. Other qualifications include excellent administrative, organizational and management skills; good computer skills; experience in communications; and public relations capabilities.
The new director will lead a mostly volunteer staff in carrying out the Visitors Center mission as a community-based entity focused on developing and disseminating promotional literature and promoting Red Bank as a year-round destination.
The Visitors Center is a concept envisioned by Red Bank RiverCenter and borough officials and has received initial funding from the Hovnanian Group, which has committed to providing $50,000 a year for three years for its operation. The board is seeking to identify long-term funding sources.
Members of the Visitors Center board represent various sectors of the Red Bank community, including representatives of the borough; NJ Transit, which has leased space at the train station to the center; RiverCenter; the West Side Arts & Antique District; the Monmouth County Arts Council; Preservation Red Bank; the Molly Pitcher Inn; Oyster Point Hotel, West Side Community Group; the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce; Shrewsbury Avenue Business Association; the Woman’s Club of Red Bank; and the borough’s east side.
