Full ballot in school elections

The lineups of candidates for election to local and regional school boards are now set with the passing of the deadline Tuesday to file for a position on the ballot. Voters will also be passing judgment on proposed school budgets in the election, scheduled for April 16. The candidates who are running for election are as follows:

Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School

The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Board of Education, has three three-year term seats up for this year’s election — one from Fair Haven, and two for Rumson, with incumbents running unopposed.

Among the candidates running for the Rumson seats are incumbents Ann Rossbach, 81 Navesink Ave., and Kathleen Gasienica, 17 Robin Road. Running for the Fair Haven seat is Susan Harbison, 53 Tyson Drive.

Red Bank Regional High School

In the Red Bank Regional High School district, there are a total of three three-terms and one one-year term available representing the three districts. The two Little Silver candidates, Joseph J. Colao, 74 Markham Place, who is running for the unexpired one year-term, and Robert L. Morgan, 34 Crest Drive, are incumbents who are running unopposed.

Because of the findings of the 2000 census, Shrewsbury Borough gained an additional seat (Little Silver lost one), and James Ronan, 52 Strauss Drive, is also running unopposed for that position.

In Red Bank, there is one three-year position available, but as of yet no candidate has filed a petition for it. Should no one run for that seat, that member will be selected by the Monmouth County superintendent of schools.

Tinton Falls

On the Tinton Falls Board of Education, Incumbent Diane Vega, 436 Crawford St., who represents Shrewsbury Township, is running for that position unopposed. There are two other seats being vacated by the members who have decided not to seek re-election, and three candidates running. Those candidates are Sharon Fernandes, 83 Cloverdale Circle, DeLynn Schecher, 144 Glenwood Drive, and Richard Calvert, 13 Mayberry Drive

Red Bank

There are four candidates, three of whom are incumbents, running for the three three-year available seats. Running for re-election is Rosemarie Kopka, 70 Highland Ave., who is currently serving as board president; Teresa Poku, 90 Bank St.; and Janet Jones, 42 Newman Springs Road. Also running is the one newcomer, Peter Noble, 38 Leighton Ave.

Rumson

Two incumbents and one newcomer are seeking election to the three three-year terms on the Rumson Board of Education. The incumbents are Anthony G. Miller of 151 Bingham Ave., and Chalmer Taylor, 37 Ward Ave. The newcomer is Linda Decelle, 4 Somerset Drive, who is seeking the seat being given up by Gigi Matthews.

Little Silver

There will be no contest in the election for the Little Silver Board of Education. The three incumbents are seeking election to the three seats at stake in this year’s election. They are Douglas Glassmacher of 15 Carlile Terrace, the board president; James Maguire of 9 Mitchell Place; and Janet Trotter of 107 Parker Ave.

Shrewsbury

Three three-year terms and one unexpired one-year term are up for election to the Shrewsbury Board of Education.

The candidates for the three year terms are Michael Losch of 56 Constitution Drive; John Kupilik of 22 Wakefield Court, and Lisa Porada of 39 Brady Road. The candidate for the one-year term is Patricia McArdle of 40 Brady Road.

All are incumbents, but Porada and McArdle are switching in the length of terms they want to serve. Porada, now seeking a three-year term, had held a one-year term, while McArdle, who had held a three-year term, is seeking a one-year term.

Sea Bright

Two incumbents and a newcomer are seeking election to the three three-year terms up for election on the Sea Bright Board of Education.

The incumbents running are Trude Arnette of 7 Imbrie Place, and Lynn Shapiro of 22 Riverview Place. The new face among the candidates is Linda A. Boyce of 33 Waterview Way, who is running for the seat now held by Laurie Murphy of Shrewsbury Way, who chose not to seek re-election.

There is no Sea Bright seat on the Shore Regional High School Board of Education up for election this year.

Fair Haven

There are three three-year terms available for the Fair Haven board, with one incumbent and two other candidates running unopposed. Incumbent Michael Kaye, 10 Brookside Farm, is seeking re-election. Also running is Kelly Zaccaro, 14 Dogwood Lane, and Lee Clay, 64 Hance Road.
